Trio Blue Suzani Cushion

An embroidered Uzbeki Suzani silk cushion

The name Suzani is derived from the Perisan word ‘Suzan’ meaning needle. As the name suggests this cushion has been hand embroidered with naturally dyed Anatolian and central Asian designs. Each shape, pattern or mark has a name. The designs are drawn by a graphic artist and then stretched pulley or counter up to the required size. If the design is intricate the embroidery may take months. 

This ancient technique has been used to decorate the interiors of houses for centuries. Suzani has long been a part of the Uzbeki culture with each region having it’s own style and design principles. 

Composition: Silk thread applied to silk cushion front, back of cushion is made with cotton with a concealed zip.
